Oculus’ rumored to the Quest might be closer than we expected. Dating back reliable leaker WalkingCat has revealed images of what’s believed to be the latest version of the virtual reality headset that would come on September 15th. While these are clearly generic press shots, they are backed up by a Reddit leak of what looks like a prototype of the same device.
There are no assurance’s either image set presents a finished product. If they do, there could be slight changes in the store. DVR noted that the current Quest’s IPD (interpupillary distance) slider has vanished, suggesting that you will be looking at one huge display rather than two.

They might have added a few changes to the controllers too. The images displayed glimpse that Oculus might use put in similar to the Touch hardware that came with the Rift CVI- a good thing for veterans who believed the Quest and Rift S controllers were steps back.
It’s not sure how the device works, but it could involve a spring system that saves you from having to adjust the fit. There is no triangular strap opening to assist the headset to stay in place. Adding that the new Quest is considerably lighter.
There are still some unknown details that have not been released. It is not stated what would power the new Quest, although faster refresh rates would dictate a newer platform like Qualcomm’s XR2. If these images are perfect, though, the latest version of Oculus’ stand-alone headset could have a few welcome upgrades.
