The invite-only voice chat app for iOS, Clubhouse, has become the talk of the town that popular social networking platforms like Facebook, have begin to create similar features. According to App Annie, Clubhouse surpassed 13 million downloads just in time for its first anniversary.
Clubhouse seems to bring in more business-oriented audience and that’s something rival companie would like to copy. Not until recently did LinkedIn reveal its future plans to create something to rival it.
LinkedIn Is Developing Audio Features Similar to That of Clubhouse
LinkedIn is testing a new audio feature, and promises the experience will be exceptional fomr other Clubhouse rivals because it will be connected with users’ professional identity on LinkedIn.
“We’re looking at how we can bring audio to other parts of LinkedIn such as events and groups, to give our members even more ways to connect to their community,” said LinkedIn spokesperson Suzi Owens to TechCrunch.
How Clubhouse Copy Cat Began
Rival apps like Discord, Skype, and Zoom have had audio chats for quite some time now, but Clubhouse has top the chat by assigning the speaker and listener role to each person in a voice call.
It seems at lot of companies are interested in this particular feature and have started to develop theirs. Twitter launched Spaces in December 2020. After that, Facebook confirmed it was working on rival app in February.
March 2021 has turned into the month of new Clubhouse clones: Instagram is reportedly working on audio rooms, Telegram launched Voice Chats 2.0, and Spotify acquired Betty Labs.
