Don't Know What Kind of Phone You Make Use Of? How to Check
SHARE

It’s important to know what kind of phone you make use of in order to access the settings, software, or quick guides to help you operate the phone properly. If you have not an idea or aren’t sure the name of the phone or where it was produced, then you should stick to this article. Here’s how to go about that;

Don't Know What Kind of Phone You Make Use Of? How to Check
Table of Contents
  • ⦁ Take A Good Look At The Phone
  • ⦁ Check From Your Phone Settings
  • On Android
  • On iOS
  • On Windows
  • On Blackberry
  • ⦁ Look at the Box That Came With the Phone
  • Haven't found it Yet?

⦁ Take A Good Look At The Phone

This is the first step you should take to know what phone you make use of. Look at the back of your phone. That’s where most print the model name of the phone. You can also find it in front of the phone.
Knowing the name of the phone gives you a hint of what operating system the phone is running on.

i. Android works on products like Samsung, Google, Huawei, LG, some Blackberry phones, and many more.
ii. iOS only works on Apple products.
iii. Windows runs on Windows Phone produced by Microsoft.
iv. Blackberry OS runs on a device made by FIH mobile or Optiemus Infracom. Not all though.

⦁ Check From Your Phone Settings

As mentioned earlier, they are different operating systems for different phones, so the set menu would be different. Locate your phone’s Settings menu using the steps below.

On Android

i. Go to where your apps are located.
ii. Click on the Settings app to open it.
iii. Scroll to the bottom and then click on About Phone.
iv. You’ll see the phone’s model name there.

On iOS

i. On your home screen, swipe down.
ii. Type in Settings and click on it to open.
iii. Still on settings, open the General submenu.
iv. Next, tap About.
v. You’ll find the iPhone model name at the top of the screen.

On Windows

i. Swipe up on the home screen to access the Apps menu.
ii. Open the Settings app. It looks like a gear.
iii. Search for the About submenu or scroll to it, then open it.
iv. You will see your Windows Phone model name displayed under Device Information.

On Blackberry

Not all blackberry phones run the same OS, some on the run on the Android operating system. That means you can try either step to check.

i. From the home screen, swipe down to open the Notification Tray.
ii. Tap the Settings menu. It has a gear icon.
iii. Find the About submenu.
iv. You’ll see your Blackberry Phone model name under your Blackberry ID.

⦁ Look at the Box That Came With the Phone

The box should display your phone’s model name on the lid. If it doesn’t, the documents that came with the phone, such as your receipt and warranty, should also list the model name.

Haven’t found it Yet?

If after the steps above you still don’t find the name there’s something else you can try. Every phone comes with a sticker with the serial number, IMEI number, and model name. It’s located at the back of your phone when you open it.
