According to creator and showrunner Shion Takeuchi, Netflix has canceled the adult-animated conspiracy comedy “Inside Job” after one season.
Takeuchi, a writer for “Gravity Falls” and other television programs, tweeted the cancellation announcement on Sunday night.
I’m devastated to confirm that Season 2 of “Inside Job” has been canceled by Netflix, the author wrote.

I’ve grown to care about these characters over the years, and I’m heartbroken that I won’t get to see them mature.
A representative for Netflix confirmed the cancellation of “Inside Job” Season 2. Last June, the streamer revealed that the show had been renewed for a second season.
Lizzy Caplan, Christian Slater, and Clark Duke are the main characters in “Inside Job,” a parody of the sci-fi thriller “The X-Files” from the 1990s.
Takeuchi and Alex Hirsch, the creator of “Gravity Falls,” collaborated on the show’s executive production.

Ten episodes of “Inside Job” had their Netflix debut in October 2021, while eight episodes of the second half released this past November.
The animated comedy centers on the shadow government and the dysfunctional gang that works tirelessly to carry out global conspiracies.
The series is set in the offices of Cognito Inc., a shadow government agency, and follows antisocial tech prodigy Reagan Ridley (Caplan) as she works with colleague Brett Hand (Duke) to unearth the countless mysteries of the universe that are shrouded in darkness.

Reagan is constantly up against obstacles, such as her unstable, conspiracy-theorizing father (Slater), and careless coworkers, despite her optimism.
“Reagan and Brett deserved to have a happy ending, and they did. And I would have loved to be able to tell you all about what was in store,” Takeuchi wrote in the tweet on Sunday.
The first project under Takeuchi’s overall contract with Netflix and the first adult animated series created internally by Netflix Animation Studios was “Inside Job.”
