Uber Eats is Uber’s food delivery service. It allows users to order takeout from restaurants and have the food delivered by an Uber driver. Getting started as an Uber Eats driver just requires you to fill out the application form and go through the background check.
This process only takes about 30 minutes and can be done through your phone in your free time, so there’s no need to schedule an appointment or come into the office like with other jobs. Once you’re approved as an Uber Eats driver, you’ll be able to complete deliveries whenever works best for you.
Things you Need
A car, a smartphone, and a valid driver’s license. Also, proof of auto insurance is required by law and you can get that from any insurance agency in your city or country. Last but not least – create a Facebook account, if you don’t have one already.
All of these should cost no more than $50 or $100 depending on your location, purchase any additional electronics and supplies you may need along with all other needed items. In order to be an Uber Eats Driver and have access to drop-off locations near you follow these steps
- First of all create a new Facebook account that has nothing connected to your real identity. You can also use any other social media platforms or dummy emails to sign up for Uber and be careful about disclosing any personal information in your profiles.
- Download Uber App (for iOS and Android) and sign up as you did before with Facebook and dummy email address
- After signing up log into App, click on the Driver button, and then click on Apply Now. Upload required documents as stated in Step 2 above
- Your application will be reviewed within a few days, if approved you’ll receive a notification email and will also have access to drop-off locations near you
- Once you accept it you’ll receive a text message with additional instructions and start your delivery career with Uber (do not share your personal phone number or email address with anyone else!)
You can make a $30 – $35 hourly rate during peak hours like lunchtime or dinner hours but rates are subject to change depending on market conditions e.g., how many orders are placed, city population etc. so do not expect that rate for all of the time!
Get your Documents Ready
Requirements vary by city, but in general, you’ll need a clean driving record, a few years of driving experience, and a clean criminal record. Beyond that, your vehicle must be in good working order, pass all inspections and have certain safety features, like airbags.
In some cities, you must also pass a drug test and complete additional training. As for qualifications? Be friendly and dependable—and don’t be surprised if you end up picking up a few new friends along the way! Of course, it helps if you have access to reliable transportation.
If not, ask a friend or family member if they might be interested; it’s no surprise that many delivery partners are college students who take on part-time gigs on top of their classes and other commitments.

Things you Should know About Becoming An Uber Eats Driver
If you already have a car, there is no reason why you shouldn’t be able to start delivering food immediately. You will not be able to deliver with a motorcycle, however. No special licensing or certification is required; just standard insurance and background checks.
Your vehicle must pass a physical inspection at your local hub before you can begin using it as an Uber Eats delivery car. All driver-partners are subject to a vehicle inspection every six months, and again before they can accept another delivery request.
This ensures that vehicles remain in good working order throughout their lifetimes as commercial vehicles. If your vehicle fails a vehicle inspection, you’ll need to schedule another inspection at your local hub before you can deliver food again.
If a vehicle passes its annual or bi-annual inspection and experiences significant damage after a period of time, you may be asked to undergo another inspection
