However, the Huawei Freebuds Pro isn’t just a worthy comparison but can be seen as a worthy competition if not a better option than the Airpods. Huawei Freebuds Pro brings to life the most important features to look out for when choosing a good quality earbud. Being the 4th version of the Huawei earbuds, The Freebuds Pro has come as a stunner, save a few features which would have made the earbuds much cooler, the features of the Freebuds Pro are undoubtedly impressive.
- Design
With the typical earbud-style but a bit more stylish in its finer details, the Huawei Freebuds Pro is designed to sit comfortably in your ears as it even comes with three rubber tips in the box to choose from the perfect fit. It comes in three colors so you’re not limited to one, The Ceramic White, The Carbon Black, and the Silver Frost. Against expectations from users, the Huawei Freebuds Pro isn’t water-resistant.
- The Charging Case
The charging case of the Huawei Freebuds Pro is always the same color as the buds themselves. With a 580mAh battery, you can be sure of a full charge in 30 minutes. The earbuds are 55mAh and sit pretty strong when in the charging case, maybe due to the power of the magnet, it could take extra effort to take them out of the case.
- Pairing
Although there isn’t any Digital assistant on the Huawei Freebuds Pro, pairing can simply be done using any device with a Bluetooth. To pair you would have to turn on the Bluetooth on your device, then long-press the pairing button located on the right side of the earbuds, and a notification would appear on your phone to pair.
- Gestures
The Huawei Freebuds Pro supports gestures to help you carry out navigations by simple squeezes. As you get accustomed to them, you can use them to answer or make phone calls, increase volume level, control ANC, Pause, and Play audio. The Huawei Freebuds Pro also has wear detection which makes audio pause when the buds are removed and resume when they are plugged back to the ear.
- ANC (Active Noise Cancellation)
This feature is what crowns the Huawei Freebuds Pro and keeps it in a separate class where other earbuds are yet to enter, even the Airpods. The ANC on the Huawei Freebuds Pro gives you 3 modes to choose from for noise control, this can also be automated with the AI Life app. The 3 modes are “Turn Off” noise control, “Awareness” which is very helpful when there is surrounding noise and “Noise-canceling” which further divides into 4 settings which are “Dynamic”, “Cosy”, “General” and “Ultra” which in summary are the intensities of the 40DB Active Noise Cancellation of the Freebuds Pro.
- AI Life App
When pairing your Huawei Freebuds Pro with a Huawei phone, you could easily control the activities of the bud from your phone settings. However, if you’re using another phone that isn’t by Huawei, you would have to get the AI Life app to unlock the features of the Freebuds Pro.
- Audio Quality
The audio output of the Huawei Freebuds Pro is excellent, especially because of the balance created by the ANC. When you make or take calls with the Freebuds Pro, just ensure that the tip is tilted towards your mouth, to ensure the only sound it picks is from you.
